Herding for Health has developed toolkit of steps and resources to guide implementation partners and communal rangeland communities in Africa towards the successful implementation of Herding for Health.
The H4H Implementation Toolkit is aimed at implementation partners of the H4H model on Africa’s indigenous savannas, grasslands and shrublands which are primarily used for livestock grazing. Implementation partners who require guidance for their managers, team leaders and professional herders are encouraged to make use of this toolkit!
The toolkit contains FOUR main steps: IDENTIFY, PLAN, IMPLEMENT, and MONITOR. The steps focus on all the critical components of the programme, from assessing site feasibility and engaging communities, to hiring and training teams, procuring and mobilising resources, implementing rangeland and livestock management plans, to monitoring impact and sharing lessons learned. Each step contains a short overview of what is involved in that step. Templates and resources have been designed to help set up H4H sites.
For more information about the toolkit and its’ resources, please contact the H4H technical team at Conservation International or Peace Parks Foundation.
